Yuck and Yum!

It started last Wednesday when Allen came down with an upset tummy in the middle of the night. He managed to make it through his two day work week--almost. Before I go any further and you think he was sitting around eating ice cream and watching "Homeland Security", I have to say that Monday was MLK day and Tuesday he worked 17 hours straight in below freezing temps at the Inauguration, then Wednesday he had Administrative leave to recover from the Inauguration. So anyway back to Wednesday night...Allen was up with tummy trouble. Then Thursday he comes home from work on time (that = early for him), and Miller throws up a good bit. We didn't think much of it because that baby is a spitter. Then Friday morning he had a fever and was just not right. I took him to the doctor and they said it was a virus and keep him hydrated. Good to know.
Saturday we were all fine, and managed to get a ton done. Sunday was pretty good too. Then Sunday night Jackson woke up and had vomited. Up until now I have been fortunate that he had never actually vomited. Baby spit up, yes, but not real vomit. UM GROSS. I got Allen up and had him help me change PJs, sheets, etc. Then about an hour later it happened again. UMMM Double YUCK! I didn't have any more sheets for his crib, so I put down a beach towel and an Ultimate Crib sheet. They are awesome. So I got to bed pretty late and by this time I was not feeling well myself. By the time Allen got up at 3 (yes a.m.) I knew I was sick. I told him I needed him to stay home, but he couldn't call in with no notice. Anyway I got it bad. Fortunately, Allen came to the rescue and came home at 11 to help with the boys. Jackson was over it in 24 hours and back to his normal self. Since I am no spring chicken it is taking me a little longer. I'm not pukey anymore, but I'm still sore all over and tired. Allen stayed home again today and I am so thankful. I got lots of rest.

That brings me to the yum part! It snowed!!!!! We woke up to a dusting this morning. Is there anything more fun than opening the shades and seeing snow?? Love it! It snowed until about 2 and then it is barely snowing now. We are supposed to get an ice storm tonight. Not so excited about that. Hopefully the government will be closed and Allen won't have to commute in the middle of it.

I felt really left out when Allen and Jackson went out to shovel the snow, but I stood at the window and watched. My fancy schmancy camera takes good pictures even through the window.

And now for the part you really want to see...the pictures. Allen and Jackson went outside and after Allen finished shoveling and started brushing off the cars, Jackson knew it was his turn. How cute is he imitating his dad?

A few weeks ago, I mentioned our next door neighbor. We love her. Her name is Mo. She loves Jackson and he tolerates her. But here she is shoveling her driveway. Can you believe it?

Last week I showed Jackson how to make a snowball. What was I thinking?

Hats

My friend Kelly's mom made these hats! Aren't they adorable? Jackson loves them-- he will wear a hat inside or out--and I love that my boys can match.

Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!

We got an inch or so of snow today and I was determined to get the perfect snow picture. It was an exercise in patience, stamina and perseverance. Last year we barely got any snow, so I figured I'd better get pics while I have my chance. We may get a bit more tonight...we'll see! There are still 2 months of winter left, but you never know!

Nusnash

Nusnash? Nusnash? What in the world is a nusnash? Well that is Jackson's word for mustache. It is one of the million funny things he says these days. Last week he was eating some cinnamon toast and gave himself a sweet 'stache. It even matches his hair!
Kelly showed me this site where you can edit your pictures. Pretty cool! I even gave the Butterbean a 'stache too. Only Allen's boys could rock a 'stache at this age!

Here are a couple of other funny things he says
"thanks honey" Jackson speak for thanks
"possum" Jackson speak for awesome
"musnang" Jackson speak for any loud car--he's trying to say mustang
"meatloaf" Jackson speak for oatmeal. Huh?
"maizing" Jackson speak for Amazing
"turboys" Jackson speak for turquoise
"tiny 'lil bit" Jackson speak for anything small as in "There tiny 'lil bit red car."

A couple of other things you may be dying to know!
1) Jackson is wearing big boy underwear these days. We have several accidents a day, but he's done with pull ups. He'll learn--or my washing machine will break--soon!
2) I am in the trenches day to day, so I haven't noticed recently that the food revolution is a success. My friend Angel has been gone for 6 months and when she was here the other day she noticed a difference. And she is right! He usually eats what he is served. Most food is staying on the tray, and we have very few issues these days when feeding him. By the way he has taken up eating veggies (baby food veggies) since Miller started eating them recently. Maybe eating baby food is a step backwards in some respects, but veggies are veggies and I'll take them any way I can get them.

Breaking News!

The big news around here is..... No! It's not that, perish the thought! Miller is trying to crawl. He way too young for this, but he wants to crawl, and so he does! Here is a video-fingers crossed that it works!

Our Weekend

We had such a fun weekend. My sister, Michele, came up from SC to visit. Allen had a duty weekend (remember last time) again, so we thought having my sister here to help-and have some girl time- would be much better. And it was!
She loves our boys as much as an aunt can. Of course she is a bad influence too! She busted out laughing when Jackson had gas while eating dinner and said "Eww it popped!" It was pretty funny, but come on, what does a 2 year old do when you laugh at them???
Now she is back in Greengrill(as Jackson says it) and we miss her so much.
Here are a few pictures of them from this weekend. Thanks for all your help, Chele!

Cuddled up on the sofa watching "Cars"

Playing Cars (notice a theme)

Enjoying some CPK

Hopefully tomorrow I will have some breaking news about Miller. Having problems posting now and I NEED to see the Bachelor and I NEEEEEED to get some zzzz's

Baby Blues and Chocolate Browns

I have it bad. I've got the baby blues and we have no idea where they came from. It probably won't last forever, but I'm LOVING these baby blues for as long as they stay.

And these will stop me in my tracks some days. Maybe it's the eyelashes? But I don't think so!

Our sweet next door neighbor who is 85 if she is a day asked me what I did to my boys to get such pretty eyelashes and all I could think of to say is "Maybe it's Maybeline!" Such a dork!

Now I have to tell you my wonderful Allen got me a new digital SLR for Christmas (Thanks honey) and I have been having little photo shoots when I can. Who can tell which pictures are from my new SLR and which are from my point and shoot?

Traffic

As you know, here in the big city we have a ton of traffic. Surprisingly there has even been a lot of traffic here on our little street. If you have been to visit you know how unusual this is. But luckily there is a fabulous guy who directs all the cars, trucks, buses and firetrucks.

He's recently started sharing his things with Miller. It lasts about 60 seconds before he reconsiders!
