Va-Kay

We had a wonderful time on our 2nd Annual Greatest family Vacation ever! We went to the same beach as last summer and we couldn't have asked for better weather.

Our routine was this:
*wake at an Un-Godly hour
*try to feed the boys Breakfast but instead just feed them dry cereal in front of PBS Kids.
*slather ourselves with 50 SPF.
*suit up.
*drag everything in the house across the street to the beach.
*play in the water, then cover ourselves in sand, repeat, repeat, repeat!
*drag ourselves back to the house for lunch and naps.
*shower off 36 pounds of sand. from each of us.
*eat, sleep.
*more 50 SPF.
*more bathing suits.
*hot foot it across the sand, while carrying 30 - 40 pound children, because the sand was about a bajillion degrees.
*run to the water and cool off our burning feet.
*enjoy the water then cover ourselves in sand, repeat, repeat, repeat.
*pack up everything and head back to the house.
*shower for the second time to remove 72 pounds of sand. from each of us.
*feed the boys dinner.
*put them to bed.
*eat dinner and stare at the ocean across the street.
*go to bed and pray that the boys will sleep until 7.

We had some variations to those days. We were triumphant crab hunters and sometimes we were hunting crabs in the sand, or we were "crab sitting" said crabs in the bucket.

Here is where he shows us what he thinks of crabs that pinch!

Pitiful, I know!

We got to go to our favorite restaurant, The Lucky Oyster, a couple of times. We love the food, but more importantly, Jackson will actually eat food at this place. Amazing! No, the most important thing about the Lucky Oyster is that they have one of those cool fishing chairs that you use when you have when you are reeling in the BIG ONE!

Allen also got this cool little contraption that carries your stuff across the sand, so we were able to carry our stuff and the boys. We will get lots of use out of it, I'm sure!

Note: In this picture we are not carrying ANY of the 826 items we need at the beach, this is just trip to the house for lunch!

I also made the boys pose for pictures just like last year, and although they aren't quite as wonderful as last year, they are pretty good.. Here's one for you, but I'll post the rest later.

Oh ans if by chance you are still reading this ( and you are not related to me) you may be glad to know that we DID NOT have to go to urgent Care while we were on Vacation. Baby steps, people!

  1. That looks like fun. Vacations are never entirely restful anymore, but a lot more eventful. They look like they are having lots of fun. Miller looks so big!

  2. Ha! Looks/sounds like fun. when we returned home from the beach this year, we were both exhausted (RT and I) and my neighbor (who has grown children)correctly pointed out that when the kids are little, it's called a "trip" NOT a "vacation!" Loved seeing you recently! Cat
