A Special Afternoon

For quite a few months we have been trying to plan an afternoon with friends at Dune.  Some of our friends suggested putting the children in the Atlantis Kids club and heading over to The One and Only Club for an afternoon.  It was heavenly!

We ate, drank and laughed our way through an afternoon.  If that wasn’t enough, this was our view!

Michele got to join us!

Did I tell you we laughed?  Oh my, this is the funniest group of humans on Earth!  Before we knew it, it was time to leave.

The men had to dash off and pick up the children…

The ladies had to make a pit stop at the pool.IMG_2750

There is some amazing history at this resort {you can read about it here }.  The view is one of a kind.

It was wonderful to spend a relaxing afternoon with friends in such an amazing location!

2013 Christmas Boat Parade

This year we were fortunate to be able to see the Festival of Lights Parade again this year.  My pictures are all dark or blurry, but I tried!

Taking pictures at night from a boat on the water is a special talent that I don’t posess!NIK_4689

Merry Christmas!

Don’t you just love Christmas cards?  When we had real mail, I would be positively giddy when Christmas Cards started sliding through the slot each December.  Now we go and pick ours up and it decidedly tardy.  However, I still anxiously await seeing our friends and families Christmas cards each year!

Living in the Bahamas, we know we have to start early to get ours to the States in time.  I am pretty sure ours are going to be late.  I ran into all kinds of obstacles in getting them mailed out this year, so the last batch went out last Friday.  If you expect a card from us, be patient and if you don’t, please know that I wish I could send a card to everyone, so please let this be your card…

Merry Christmas from our family to yours!

Gingerbread Houses 2013

Earlier in the month I picked up 2 Gingerbread House kits to do with the boys.  We have done them with out much success before.

Time got away from us and it was a few days before Christmas when we got to assemble and decorate them.

The boys were really into it this year and wanted them to be just so {i.e. they wanted me to do all the piping and them to do all the decorating}.

NIK_4613

It has taken me a few years to get comfortable with piping, so I knew this was going to be a good plan!

Most of the details were all their own and I was pleased that their creative sides are alive and well!NIK_4623NIK_4631NIK_4667

They turned out really cute!  This one is Miller’s

His back was really nice too!

These pictures are testament to the old saying, “If at first you don’t succeed, try and try again.”  The boys and I have finally made gingerbread houses that look cute.

Now if I can just keep Miller from eating it!

3rd Annual Cookie Party

For the past 3 years I have hosted a really fun party for my girlfriends.  We get together on a Sunday evening and  it’s always a big time.

cookie party 002-001

This year, per tradition, I made about 100 cut out sugar cookies and icing and we decorated them.

Once I saw this cover of Good Housekeeping Magazine, I was inspired and thought it might be fun to try some of these cookies.  Ambition is a good thing, right?

IMG_2752

All of my friends are good cooks, it’s just that they claim not to be.  Good thing I know better.  The decorating is a bit different from actually cooking, so we had some practicing to do.

Can you tell we laughed a lot that night??NIK_4482NIK_4485NIK_4487NIK_4488NIK_4489NIK_4490NIK_4491

If there were mistakes, we just added sprinkles!NIK_4494

The results were impressive!  NIK_4503

Talented ladies!

NIK_4505NIK_4506NIK_4507NIK_4509

We each put our favorite cookies in the middle of the table.  They are all so different

NIK_4510

After we decorated we did a cookie exchange.

NIK_4473

Each of them brought 7 sets of cookies to swap.  I love that they were all different!

Poor Stef had a cookie accident on the way over.  She left the cookies on the roof of her car!  We know she worked really hard on them, though!

Everyone got an assortment of different cookies.

You know I’m southern and love a good monogram, so I couldn’t resist adding initials to the take home cookies!IMG_2699

I’m already looking forward to next year!
