Tooth Fairy

Did you ever see the episode of Modern Family where The Tooth Fairy accidentally gives Lilly $100?  Well apparently my life imitates a sitcom, because we had a similar situation here the other night.

The trailer for that episode sets it up perfectly.

Memorable Quotes:
Mitchell:
"The Tooth Fairy gave our daughter $100! Does she not know that the going rate for a tooth is five at the most?"
Cameron: "Well, obviously the Tooth Fairy made a mistake."
Mitchell: "That's because the Tooth Fairy had a little too much Chardonnay last night."
Cameron: "I think the Tooth Fairy can handle the Chardonnay. What I think she can't handle is criticizing someone who made an honest mistake in the dark of the night."

I do love Modern Family!

So back to Miller…Thursday afternoon he was wiggling it and being quite a drama queen about it, so I basically made him let me pull it.

Yes I traumatized him, but…The dentist charges upwards of $150 to pull a tooth and the new one needed its space, so I just had to get in there and go for it. He will have to work it out with his therapist when he’s older.

Once the tooth was out he cried for a few seconds but was thrilled to get a popsicle and forgot all about his tooth trauma.  That night he happily put the tooth under the pillow for the tooth fairy to exchange for the customary $5 that she leaves in our house.

The next morning the tooth fairy woke up at 5:48 and realized she had forgotten to do the exchange, so she hurried to her wallet and was careful to avoid the $50 bill in her wallet. She made the exchange and went back to bed.

Shortly after that Miller came to my room and informed me that the tooth fairy had left him $24.  Yes, she had avoided the $50 bill, but had managed to pick up a $20 bill instead of the $1 bill.  He was thrilled.  His brother felt gypped and I felt like a punk!

Oh well, he went to the sports store and bought himself a new ball and we are all happy with the outcome.

Lookie Lookie!

Lookie who got a visit from the Tooth fairy!

He did not want his tooth to come out.  he was one of those kids who doesn’t even want you to touch his tooth when it was loose {or wobbly as he likes to say}.  Mostly I just left it alone, but Friday we went out for dinner and darn if it didn’t come out when the babysitter was here.

As you can see, it needed to come out.

The other tooth was already in and needed the space.  It won’t be too long before the other one comes out too!

I may need therapy!

Greenville Part 3

After some time in Greenville the boys and I headed up to NC to see Allen’s family.

IMG_1744

As soon as we got there they were treated like, well grandkids!  Allen’s parents love to love on the boys in the way only grandparents can do!

There were walks to the waterfall,IMG_1748

throwing rocks,

lots of playing in the grass,

swinging,

Uncle Remus Stories,

and dessert after every meal!IMG_1773

And that was just the first 24 hours!

I came across this Tiger Lily as we were on a walk.  Wildflowers are so amazing to me!

After that, I headed back to SC and the boys stayed with their Grandparents.  They had a blast.  Miniature golf, go karts, putt putt golf, pizza, McDonald, swimming and more.  I did get the following picture too, but I don’t quite believe it!

Meanwhile, Chele and I were having a little fun on our own.  We hopped down to Atlanta and hit The Ballard Designs store, the Ballard Designs outlet and IKEA.  Lovely!  She got an awesome chair and some great lights.  I got baskets!

We came across a CPK and drank sweet tea.  Love!

We did more shopping

And had lots of good times!

The boys came back to SC and we had to head straight to Jackson’s first Orthodontist appointment.  I can’t believe that we were ready for that, but it was time.

IMG_1868

To add insult to injury, the dentist recommended an orthodontist who is the younger brother of one of my friends from elementary school.  I remember when he was born.

After that we got busy having fun with our friends!

We invaded The Weekes house numerous times….

Hit the bowling alley and had a fun day with the Tates and Norwoods.

Drove down country roads.

Believe it or not  this doesn’t even cover it all!  There’s still more!

One more post should wrap it up!

A Little Photoshoot

Last time I tried to get pictures of Jackson’s adorable new smile I ended up with this.
It’s good if you like blurry and short.  Which is my kind of photography these days.
By the way, my camera woes only took a brief hiatus.  My good camera is all kinds of broken right now.
I have to send it to the Nikon Gods who will tell me it will cost approximately $40 less than buying a new camera to get mine fixed.  Do I have a crystal ball, you ask?
Um no.  That’s what they do every stinking time I have sent a camera in for repair.
I’ve had about 1 or 67 broken cameras.  Approximately.
Some could suggest that it is operator related.  I’d say highly likely unlikely .
So now you are saying where are the pictures?  They are here, but hold your horses.
I had to stage him in front of really good light to get these, which makes my background a little…unusual.
Just focus on the smile, ok?  Thankyouverymuch!

This is the face I get to see right before he snorts!

Needless to say he likes to pretend he is a ninja when I want him to pose for sweet pictures.

Then he flat out hid from me, but he didn’t actually bother to move away. He loves the attention.

Then he gave me ONE sweet smile.

Then Miller told me to take pictures of his missing teeth.

He thinks his spaces are missing teeth.  Bless him!

Oh how I wish I could show him the spaces I had before braces.  Hear that mom?  Get out your pictures.  I know I don’t have to ask twice!

Tooth Fairy 3.0

Have you ever picked up your child from school and then 10 minutes later he smiles and he is missing his front tooth?  Yep, he pulled out his tooth at school and no one told me.  He is my baby!  How could he go and change his whole face and not consult me?
His smile will never be the same.  Soon he will grow big gigantic teeth that will be too big for his face.  Who said that’s ok?
He has also decided to stop posing for pictures.  Not cool.  Not cool at all!
IMG_0077
But how cute is he with that missing tooth?  I do love it!
IMG_0064
Miller is willing to pose for pictures of his teeth!  See!

Please let this sweet baby keep his teeth for a few more years!

One down 19 more

His permanent teeth are literally pushing the baby ones out.  Two more loose ones are on their way out.

You Be the Judge

Happy Spring! Today is the first day of Spring and it has me thinking. I have so many pictures of Jackson during his First Spring that I love. By then he was eating, sleeping and a pretty charming fellow! I was going through my pictures and started thinking about whether or not Miller looks likes Jacskon. Sometimes yes, they could be twins and sometimes no, not at all.
Here is a picture taken of Jacskon on March 15, 2007.

And one on March 21, 2007

And here is one of Miller, March 18, 2009

What do you think?

I think a couple of weeks ago I promised some pictures of the new chompers. Here they are in all their sharp glory.

And because i just can't help myself!
