Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

The boys school always does a Summer production for the entire school and I always adore it.  This year it was Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.  I haven’t seen the play in  quite a few years and I loved this production.

Here are Elvis and the beggar.  Miller’s hair was a masterpiece, but alas humidity did it’s thing and it was not very Elvis-like by the time he took the stage.

Per tradition, the littlest cast members perform first.  They are so darn cute!  There are always a couple crying and all of them are anxiously searching for their people in the crowd.

Then several other classes performed.

Then it was time for Kindergarten to perform “7 Fat Cows”.  They were so cute!NIK_7490NIK_7491NIK_7495

Unfortunately a rude parent stood up in front of me and I couldn’t see any more of Miller’s Performance.  Boo for rude people.  Yeah for cute Kindergarteners dressed as Elvis!

Shortly after that Jackson’s class performed “Grovel, Grovel”  They did a fantastic job.NIK_7500

Jackson is quite a shy child, but in these performances, he does so well.   I love seeing him perform.

The rest of the cast finished off the play.

Then it was time for the finale.  The entire school {including teachers} performed “Any Dream Will Do

And with that they finished the school play.  Good job boys!

Let’s Dance

The boys have been really into Let’s Dance on the Wii.  When their friends were over I took this video.  They are going to kill me when they’re 16!  However, it is too cute not to post!

Sea School

We were out on our dock recently when we saw a sea urchin that was close enough for me to get.  I didn’t want to kill it, but I thought it would be a good opportunity to let the boys check it out up close and personal.
So I grabbed a pair of metal tongs and a container and popped him off of the pillar.
NIK_3157
I love that we are able to do these things and I hope they boys will remember some of the things we do here.
NIK_3161
We saw that when the sea urchin is submerged it has little white suction cups that come out in between its spikes.  Cool!NIK_3162
I also had to include pictures of Jackson being goofy.  I just love the color of his eyes.  So rich!

It's tough to see, but there are also these clear-ish long tentacles that come off of the urchin too.  They are almost like hairs that you can barely see on the left side of this picture.NIK_3168NIK_3169
NIK_3181
Miller wasn’t feeling well, but I did manage to get him to check out the sea urchin for a minute.NIK_3184
Then daddy came home from work and he checked it out too.
NIK_3186
They turned him over to look at the sea urchin’s mouth.
NIK_3188
Apparently Sea Urchin {uni} is a popular dish in Asia.  I’ll take their word for it!
NIK_3191
Then it was time to put him back in the water.  Jackson would not allow me to help him.
NIK_3198
He gently put him in the water.  This picture cracks me up because he was wearing shoes.  He never wears shoes and when he needs to be barefoot, he has on shoes!?! And socks!NIK_3199
Since I was barefoot, I took him a little deeper in the water.
NIK_3205
The the 10 seconds or so that it took me to walk back around to the dock, that sea urchin moved quickly.  He was making himself disappear, and quick!NIK_3206
Then look what appeared in the algae on the other side of the dock…
NIK_3207
How could I not catch him.  Raise your hand if you had a shirt that said, “I Caught Crabs at Bay Bridge Marina”.
NIK_3209
Yes, I did!  When I was little, too.  My dad owned a marina and that’s what the shirts said.
NIK_3216
Wish I had one of those shirts now!
NIK_3220NIK_3224
Allen helped us get crabby into the container that was very recently occupied by the sea urchin.
NIK_3225
His colors were amazing.NIK_3227
I think I see a painting coming soon!NIK_3236
Any time our hands got near the side of the container, he let us know he was ready to fight!
NIK_3252
I don’t blame him, but we gave him some small pieces of hot dogs as a gesture of goodwill and he acted as though he didn’t want it.  RUDE!
NIK_3262
Meanwhile Miller wrapped himself in the tablecloth, snuggled up on my lap and went to sleep.  Bless him, he had a fever.
NIK_3279
We put the crab back in the water and put he boys to bed.  I hope they had sweet dreams of adventures in the sea!

How to Exercise Inside

Recently Miller and I spent some time in Miami{that is a whole other blog post!} and while we were there I was challenged with how to exercise my high energy boy inside.  Cue the music!

If you’re a fan of Miller you’ll love every second of it, you won’t mind watching all 4 minutes of it.  If you’re not a fan, well then good bye!

Right before I left Jackson's class did this little number for the entire school.  He was a bit nervous, but they ended up having a blast doing it!

Let’s Dance, Y’all!

Miller Style

Miller loves to look at youtube and watch others dance to Gangan Style.  I’m really not sure what all the kids like so much about the video, but they love it!
Check it out, if you haven’t seen it

In case you are worried, we make Miller say “Pretty ladies” instead of Sexy ladies. I’m not ready to explain that yet!

Of course Miller had to copy it.  You can see him going back to the bed where the video is playing on the iPad.

I need help with my videoing. You have to turn the volume up to hear the music.  I put my hand over the microphone half way through.

Miller is such a mess, his shorts are on backwards and his shirt is on inside out and backwards!  He hasn’t mastered all the aspects of his many costume changes!  When we are just staying home, I really just let him do his own thing.
As far as Jackson goes in this video…who knows!
Love these boys with my whole heart!!
Oh, and I had to share this one too.  it is too cute to leave out!

Call Me Maybe

You know how Miller likes to get his dance on?  Last summer he was all about the Justin Bieber song “Baby”.  Recently Kelly told me that she thought Miller would like to see the YouTube videos of the Song “Call Me Maybe”

Well he didn’t like them, he LOVED them.  He even learned the dance.  He calls it “up, up, X!”  Then I saw one with the SMU crew team and one with Barack and Mitt.  It goes on and on, and Miller loves every bit of it.

Then there is this one with Jimmy Fallon and the singer Carly Rae Jepson.  They look like they are having such a fun time with their preschool instruments ( I especially like the guy with the kazoo!)

And for your viewing pleasure………….

Jackson & Miller

They are a crazy, hot mess, but they are my crazy hot mess!

Do you like how I had to give Jackson his “last warning” in there.  Allen's been gone and it’s been a bit too much, if you know what I mean?

Breaking It Down

The Butterbean has always been known for his dancing skillz.  He is really partial to any music with a good beat.  His girl, Charlotte was over last week and he had an opportunity to show her his new moves.  How could she not love a guy who has these moves.  Wish I had been able to video him.

Move 1- Booty wiggle

Move 2- Gettin’ Jiggy Wid it

Move 3- Dancing on the furniture

Move 4- Singing and dancing

Move 5- Headspin!  I swear he has never seen a headspin, but he can do it.

DSC_0495

Jackson, bless his heart, has 2 dance moves: jumping up and down and marching.

Charlotte has some sweet moves herself!

DSC_0483 DSC_0471

These two are quite a dynamic duo.  If God ever decided to make a female Miller, Charlotte would be it.  Adorable, charming and always into something!

Are you thinking what I’m thinking?  We need a video!  I’m on it
