Just a taste

Yesterday was a real taste of Spring. It was really stormy in the morning. Then it was sunny and windy, then it was warm and cloudy in the late afternoon. We were able to go out in our driveway and let Jackson play with his Bounceback Racer. He calls it the "Fab-we-ous Racer". Basically it is a remote control car with soft plastic wheels that flips over if it hits something straight on. Then it will also flip a wheelie if you hit the buttons just right.

The Butterbean was all about playing with the gravel, using (and eating the chalk) and showing off his not as black eye.

Allen was even home from work in time to play with us too. Isn't he looking good?

He doesn't like to have his picture taken, much less out on the blog, but it's my blog and I can put a picture of my honey on there if I want to!
Oh, and by the way, since I know you have been waiting for me to say something... Last night was the first time (this season) I have been terribly disappointed by The Bachelor. Don't worry I still have hope that love will prevail!
Now our taste of Spring is over, and it's sleeting. Come back and visit soon Spring!

One Year Ago

This picture was taken a year ago today.

I remember taking it because the Butterbean was sitting up so well.
This is the picture I took of him today.

The true colors are not as visible, but if you look closely you can see his second black eye. He got it because he was trying to run with the big kids at the park. One of the older, faster kids ran by him at top speed, spinning him around until he fell- on his cheekbone. As my mom told me, "That's what you get for having boys." She's right. But oh do I love these boys!

What you get

On Saturday I was in the basement when I lost Miller (if you have ever seen our basement you will understand how I could lose my child). So I had to stand in one place for a second and just listen. Eventually I heard some mouse kind of noises and narrowed it down.
Almost empty dog food bin + little one who loves to squeeze himself into things + little one who LOVES to eat dog food = this

Nuttin' New Here

We are in the midst of a frigid winter with nothing new but a fresh round of colds. I thought Allen was being excessive when we bought Kleenex at Costco. Turns out that, as usual, he was right.
After the Christmas decorations came down it felt a little, empty. So I did what any sane person would do.
I traipsed back up into the attic, that was approximately 25 degrees, and pulled out some of the Winterish decorations. It didn't look quite pulled together, so I made a little garland to hang from the mantle and even sewed some little mittens to cutesify it.

It's still winter, it's still beyond cold and we still all have colds, but at least we have some decorations to get us throught until Spring.

An Apple a Day

An apple a day keeps the doctor away. Or is it get tubes in his ears and keep the doctor away?

I'm original aren't I?
No matter, he loves apples and his developed his own method of eating them.

Don't cut them up, that's for babies.
Just wash it hand hand it over.

He will take it from there!

In the end he throws it to the floor and says, "Uh-Oh", which doesn't mean Uh-Oh at all. It really means "I'm done".
And when he is done it looks like a squirrel got ahold of it

Jackson on the otherhand...
Well he's still on applesauce!

Cold Habitat

It has been Cold here. I should spell that with a capital K because it isn't just cold, it is K-O-L-D! Hasn't been above freezing for a week and isn't going to get above freezing for the next 10 days.
What do you do? Play inside a lot. After we finished putting laundry away the other day, the boys got some good fun in what Jackson calls his "habitat"- actually he says it "haditat".
He and Miller like playing in their habitats a lot. So much so that I couldn't get the cute picture of them that I wanted. You know the one where they both lift the basket off and give you a big grin? Yeah, that didn't happen.
Not sure if they are being turtles or just being goofy, but they sure do like it! And if they like it, can use up some energy, be inside, not get hurt and get me a little closer to naptime, then it is a homerun for me too!

CHOOSE

Nobody guessed that my word this year is CHOOSE! I love that this word is really what you make of it.
I choose what kind of mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, business person, I want to be.
I choose how I run the house, whether or not chores are done and how I go about them.
But most importantly...
I choose to be happy, to see the bright side of things and always look for the positive in people.
I choose to have my cake and eat it too!
Did you come up with your own word? What did you CHOOSE?
