Mother’s Day 2014

Every year on Mother’s Day it gets better than the last.  This year Jackson came and loudly told me “Happy Mother’s Day!” at about 6:14 a.m. and was so excited to give me his poem that I couldn’t even be mad.  Miller was right behind him with his Mother’s Day painting of flowers.  So cute!

I have a soft spot in my heart for kids crafts and Mother’s Day kids crafts are just the sweetest!

Allen and the boys made me a fantastic breakfast that we enjoyed al fresco.  While I was waiting for breakfast the boys were hard at work.
Miller decided he was going to clean the windows—with a broom.

Jackson learned to make a terrific latte.  I’m spoiled, right!

Then we packed up a lunch and headed to our favorite beach.

It was so crowded…

We ended the day with a delicious dinner of stone crab legs, filet mignons, and corn on the cob!  I am spoiled!

Thank you Allen, for making it all happen!

Mother’s Day Memories

This year my beloved firstborn told me that for Mother’s Day he would like to take me to Atlantis for my present.  He sealed the deal by saying, “I have $16.”  How can we say no to that?  If Atlantis is paradise in his mind, it must be paradise to mine, right?

Of course Atlantis is super fun, but it is it my idea of a relaxing, carefree day?  Apparently the correct answer is yes!  I got busy making us some reservations.

I kept it all rather hush-hush because my boys have been known to ask me roughly 684 times {in an hour} if it is time for XYZ yet!  So Saturday morning we got up and I went to get a pedicure.  I felt that if I was going to be bopping around a resort for the weekend, it would be rude not to have one!

When I got back from that great pedi, we told the boys to get ready for a day at the pool.  They didn’t notice that were were bringing several extra bags with us.  Love their innocent minds.

After we drove to the other side of the island, and went over the enormous bridge leading to Paradise Island and they still hadn’t guessed where were going, we let them in on it!  We quickly checked in and headed for the pools.

The day didn’t disappoint!  We had an absolute blast!

Jackson amazed us by begging to go up the steepest and scariest slide at Atlantis.  You have to be 48 inches tall.  Guess who is 49 inches tall?  He was not at all shy to let the folks there know it too!

So we thought he would get to the top, chicken out and walk back down to the slides that regular people do.

Yeah, that didn’t happen!

Allen was a good sport and did it with him each time.

P5121004-002

I kid!  He seemed just as excited as Jackson! Look at Jackson waiting to give his dad a high five at the bottom!

P5121005

In case you didn’t know it, this is the slide that was on the Amazing Race.  The same slide that a grown woman was too terrified to go down, so she lost her chance at the million dollars rather than go down that slide.  My guys did it for zero dollars and aero cents!

P5121008

I went through a few of big slides that are still pretty intense.  I sure do love that boy!  We did all the Power Tower ones together too!

I did The Surge and  it almost killed me.  In my defense, the whole thing was in the dark.  I have a picture.  It will never be shown!

OK  I’ll show you!

P5121029-001

I had to blur it. Couldn’t show you all my bits that shouldn’t be shown. Seriously though, it was that fast.  No way to get a picture the slide is so fast!!

Here is a review I read about The Surge:

The Surge slide is by far one of the most thrilling ever. Located atop the Power Tower under a crypt-like coffin, you know what you're getting yourself into before you slide to your doom. The Surge is definitely breath-taking, so it's not a slide for the faint of heart. As soon as you position yourself at the top, you're plunging at a complete ninety-degree vertical angle straight to the bottom, where torrents of water flush you out into a dark pool surrounded by an aquarium cave. There are lifeguards at the bottom just to make sure you made it out alive.

See how blurry they are?  It’s because they were going so darn fast!!

We tried keeping him on slides like these.  No dice.  He wanted that rush!

Miller had his heart broken repeatedly.  He wanted to do those slides!  Soon enough little dude!

P5121015

He watched the sharks waiting for his dad and Jackson to come through that slide.

P5121001

There was lots of Lazy river action.  Nothing lazy about that river!

At the end of the day, we had a nice dinner at Carmine’s.  Came back to the room to chill and zonk out for the night.  So we could get up and do it all over again.

You know what?  Jackson ended up planning the best Mother’s Day after all.  Sure it was as restful as running a marathon-two days in a row- but we were together and happy!

Thanks for the memories! Especially to Allen who worked so hard to make it all so much fun.

A Weekend Adventure

By the title of the post, you may think that we did this last weekend.  It’s a little misleading but showing pictures immediately after they happen would require me to download pictures more frequently.  I think my awesome sister would love to get me this for my upcoming birthday, so I can download pictures (and blog) easier!  What do you think?
Ok I digress.
We were able to go to Atlantis over Mother’s Day weekend.
We didn’t stay there.
We slept in our own beds.
We can do that since we live about 15 minutes away.
Until the AC broke.
Another story for another day.
Sounds thrilling.
The boys loved the aquarium part of Atlantis.

The kids pool was amazing as well.
Slides, sprayers, buckets, squirt things!

This is how Miller swims.  He uses his arms and legs on the bottom of a shallow pool.  He says, “I SWIMMIN” really loud!

I don’t have any pictures of the lazy river.  The river isn’t very lazy.  When my awesome sister took me to Atlantis when I was pregnant with Miller, the lazy river was my favorite part of the whole trip.

Jackson loves it as much as his mama.
Miller loves it as much as a round of shots.
Maybe I went a time or twelve times too many before he was born.
Sorry ‘bout that!
The boys are still talking about it!  We will go back when our friends visit at the end of the month to make more memories.

Adjustment has been tough. It's not easy to go from living like a queen to living like...a mom.
At the end of my second vacation, I was ready. Ready to come home to my boys. Ready to resume our life. Ready to take on all that being a mom entails. Well maybe not the tempertantrums and whining. That I can do without. About 24 hours after getting home, I felt like I had never been on vacation at all!
Mother's Day snuck up on me. As in I was at Muffins for Moms on Friday at Jackson's preschool and they told me Happy Mother's Day and I realized Mother's Day was THAT Sunday. So much for sending my mom a card, or a present!
Mother's Day was wonderful. I got to sleep in, and spend some time without 2 boys in craft stores, have a nice meal out, and after the boys were in bed, a little craft time. Perfect!
Yesterday was excellent too. Until there was projectile vomiting-twice from Jackson and and a head butt, from Miller, that I am pretty sure broke my nose.
Good thing that I got this little lovely for Mother's Day to remind me of what holds my heart.
Thank you!

Mother's Day Gift

It is great to be appreciated. For Mother's Day Allen got me a new lens for my camera and
I. Love. It. So. Much.
We are still making friends, but here are some pictures taken with it(Allen obviously took the ones with me and the boys). It is a 50 mm fixed and it makes the background nice and blurry. It is way too much camera for me, but I am enjoying every minute of it.
Speaking of my camera, last night I made a camera strap cover, and it is so cute. I'll have to take a pic soon. Here is the tutorial, in case you decide you NEED one too!

OK, I took them down, and he still doesn't know, let's just keep it on the DL!

Happy Mother's Day

Now that I am a mom, I have a whole new appreciation for my mom--a mom of 5!
Thanks for all your work sacrifices and LOVE Mom!

We love you!

Also Thank You to Allen's Mom who did a wonderful job of raising a wonderful man!

A BIG Thank You to Allen who is making me breakfast at the moment and is taking great care today so that I don't have to lift a finger! Thanks honey!

Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms out there. Enjoy your day, it does not come often enough, in my own humble opinion!

Oh, and thanks for this Kelly...I hope everyone can see it
Coming soon, my acceptance speech!
