A New Look

When I tell you that Miller has a new look you may be thinking that he got a new haircut, which he did. But the new look is this.

He is started giving it last night, and he keeps on giving it to us. It really doesn't help that I laugh out loud every time he does it!

Happy Birthday

At the risk of embarrassing him, I wanted to wish Allen a happy birthday. We celebrated this weekend, because after all, he is married to me and I think everyone should get a birthday season. That might be a bit much for him, and though he is not one to celebrate, having young children makes it tolerable for him. Oh, and the lemon cake made it slightly better. As did eating brunch at his favorite Mexican restaurant.
So in order to really embarrass him, I'll tell you just a few of the reasons that I love him...

He is such a hard worker, who never gives up.
He loves his boys with his whole heart, and they love him back just as much!
He supports me and most of my ideas-just not the crazy ones.
He can do anything he sets his mind to.
He is humble and loyal, two of the most wonderful traits a person can have.
He is the most diplomatic person I know. He always finds the kindest way to say things.
He takes care of me, and seems to enjoy doing it.

Happy Birthday Allen

Milestones

It's hard to keep up with Jackson's milestones these days. I notice new words, questions(all day long),he is asking what words say, and beginning to read signs and environmental print. I know these are important milestones, but it's not as easy to see as a new tooth or a first word.

It is easy to take these things for granted, but all it takes is a look around the pediatrician's office to know that these are a big deal. We aren't guaranteed anything and it is pretty important to thank God for the gifts we are given.

That being said, here is the latest milestone brought to you by the 3 and a half year old in our house! If you can't read the green words I added to the pictures, you can click on them to make them bigger.

Now I will put on my Early Childhood teacher hat and tell you that drawing a person is a BIG FAT DEAL! The typical child won't include a body for quite a while and that's perfectly normal.

The interesting thing is that a friend of his started drawing people a couple of months ago. I thought I should see if Jackson could do it. UM- no! So I kind of forgot about it. Then yesterday we were outside and I had drawn a circle with chalk on the driveway, and I said, "Let's make this into a face." And BOOM! He did it. Hair, ams, legs, eyes, nose, mouth! A couple of months ago, he just wasn't ready. Lesson re-learned!

Free Cone Day

It was 48 degrees out side and a little rainy. The line was about 20 people deep. My camera told me my battery was "EXHAUSTED". We had to pay $3 for parking, but nothing will deter us from experiencing a once yearly gift called Free Cone Day.
And since my camera battery was "EXHAUSTED", this is what you get.

Just picture Miller going hands on with my cone of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, instead of his nice cup of Orange Cream. Just picture that right after this picture was snapped, I had to put Jackson on my lap to keep us from shivering too much. Just picture a teenager at the door in a cow costume with and udder placed right about where his, ah-hem, zipper would be and you get the picture.

Happy St. Patrick's day

Guess who came by and helped me make green "milkshakes" for breakfast? A Leprechaun! We have "milkshakes" many times a week, but today they were special because they are green.
That Leprecaun taught me a thing or two about trickery because their "milkshakes" have Vanilla Yogurt, Peaches and Pears in them. Oh and a splash of food coloring too! It's all a matter of marketing!

A Mess

This boy is a mess. Have I mentioned that it is a mistake to turn your back on him. This is what he did while I made a PB&J.

Notice the vent on the fridge is off, my makeup bag is behind him on the doormat and there is a magnet in his mouth.

This is what he did while I was cutting up veggies for a salad.

This is what he does if you do not keep your hand on his. Nothing says yummy like colored wax!

I don't have a picture of the mess he made in his room during nap. He didn't want to nap, so he sat in his bed and gagged himself until he threw up. Nice. And the cherry on top was that it was on him, the sheets, bumpers (yes, all 4 of them), the mattress pad, and the crib. Oh, and his hair too.
Speaking of a mess. My house is always a mess. The other day I was picking up the stuff that is scattered all over the place by him and talking bitterly to myself, "There is make-up in the kitchen and a ladle in my bedroom."

He went through 4 complete outfits today. I'd go crazy if I tried to keep count, but If I did, I would tell you that I did 5 loads of laundry yesterday, and 3 today.
Since my word for the year is "Choose", I get to choose how I feel about it. Part of me thinks it is mildly amusing, but the other part thinks it is a huge pain. So I guess I will choose to keep loving this boy despite what mess he truly is.

It's that time of year!

Remember this last year? It was fantastic, but somehow this year we managed to do even better! The weather was beautiful, so we wanted to go downtown and Jackson wanted to fly a kite so a plan was born. I'll let the pictures speak.

This guy had this big kite that looked like a parasailing sail, then he had this thing strapped to his feet. he was all over the place doing little tricks. Good thing Jackson never saw him!

After all that fun and fresh air we were ALL tuckered out.

Umm Lunch

Most days Miller ends his lunch like this. Can I keep him like this forever?

Most moms, if they are being completely honest, will tell you that naptime is in the top 3 when ranking their favorite parts of the day. I'm no different, but this makes naptime even more enjoyable. I get to see this big old muffin, stuff himself until.
he.
just.
can't.
hold.
on.
another.
second.

By keep him like this forever, I don't mean 18 months old and getting into everything he can possibly get his hands on and making me chase him no fewer than 275times a day. I mean I can't really handle it now, so it would probably be really hard in about 20 years.
I mean sweet and sticky, and chubby cheeked, and still, and warm, and kissable and dreamy. Ummm
