Last week the boys had the opportunity to go the day camp at Dolphin Encounters. Most of their friends were there for the full week, but I just wasn’t ready. They were ready, but I wasn’t! It’s just that Miller is just 4 and being on another island might be too much—for me. So one day was enough!
I decided to tag along, you know so I could be there if my baby almost 5 year old needed his mama. {You can go to Dolphin Encounters as an observer and pay a small fee.} Several other moms happened to be going that day as well, so it was nice to have some friends go too!
It was a good thing that friends went along too because as soon as we got off the boat, we were told to go to the left and the campers went to the right. Oh, OK! I just assumed that I would be able to kind of hang around too. Nope! The staff is there to provide a fun and safe environment for the kids and parents aren’t part of that. I get it, but what if the baby needs his mama?
We were on the other side of the island from the campers. So I had to sit on the beach and read a magazine. Cue the Annie song, “It’s a Hard Knock Life”!
After a while some of the other moms and I went on a little exploring walk. First we came across these guys.
Then we came across these guys.
Then we came across these guys…
And then we were asked to leave. Their job is to keep the kids safe and busy, but we didn’t think that meant safe from us. Apparently it did. So we had to go be tourists again!
The kids got to go to the Bounce Zone, which is a park of bounce houses! Awesome!!
Then they went to the Aqua Park, which is kind of like Wipeout. My boys were in heaven!!
After lunch it was time for their Dolphin Encounter. We were able to observe from the platform {which was very nice of them}. The kids got to pet, hug, dance, feed and feel the dolphins teeth. It was so cool!
The boys had a fantastic day, I had a fantastic day and I’m so happy that they we did it.
Next year I think that the boys are old enough to go by themselves. But I may need to go again, you know, just in case!!
